How should I pack and post a LEGO set
Pack a LEGO set in a sturdy box with padding, then post it with the prepaid Royal Mail label the buyer chose. Brick Deals delivery is UK tracked postage only.
Pack the set so nothing can rattle onto a corner, then post it with the Royal Mail service the buyer has already paid for. On Brick Deals that is tracked UK delivery only. The buyer chooses Tracked 24 or Tracked 48, and either Post Office drop-off or collection. You do not buy your own postage, and you do not type a tracking number in by hand. Send the parcel within 5 days of the sale.
For drop-off, we generate a prepaid label. Print it, tape it flat on the largest face, and take the parcel to a Post Office. For collection, pack the parcel and have it ready. Royal Mail brings the label, so you do not need a printer. Orders of £300 or more use a signed service. The full steps are on delivery tips. The short version of the sale is in the seller guide.
What to put in the box
Use a strong carton that is a little larger than the set, not a thin bag. Wrap the original box, if you are sending it, so the corners are not crushed. The original box is part of what the buyer paid for on a sealed or boxed set. Bubble wrap or packing paper should stop the contents moving. Seal every seam with proper packing tape. A reused box is fine if you remove old barcodes and old addresses so the parcel is not sent back to someone else.
Bag minifigures and small accessories together. Bag the instructions and keep them flat and dry. If the set is built, decide whether to leave it built or take it apart. Built models break in transit unless they are packed very tightly. Parting the model into the main sections, bagged, is usually safer. If you said the set was built and complete, the parts still all have to be in the box. Do not add loose bricks from other sets unless the listing said they were extras.
Large sets and fragile boxes
A big set is heavy. Double-box it when the original carton is valuable or when the order is £300 or more: set box, padding, outer carton, label on the outer carton only. Do not stick the label over the artwork of a sealed box and post that as the parcel. A dented sealed box is damage, and the buyer can report it. Corners and the lid take the hits. Pad those, not just the middle.
Weight and size decide the postage the buyer pays at checkout, from the parcel size on the listing. If you understate the parcel, the label will not match and the handover gets difficult. Measure the packed box, not the bare LEGO box, if you are adding an outer carton. UK addresses only, with a valid postcode. We do not post outside the United Kingdom. That keeps tracking and cover consistent.
After you hand it over
Good packing is part of the description you already wrote. A complete set that arrives with a crushed minifigure box and a missing instruction booklet feels incomplete even if you packed in a hurry. Read Buyer Protection so you know what the buyer can raise, then look at selling without the original box if you are unsure which box is the product and which box is only the parcel.
